Carbajal Statement on Supreme Court Oral Arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization

Statement

Date: Dec. 1, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Salud Carbajal issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court hearing arguments in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, challenging Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban. Rep. Carbajal, a member of the Pro-Choice Caucus, joined his colleagues and public advocates in front of the U.S. Supreme Court this morning.

"Hi, I'm here in front of the Supreme Court with many of my colleagues and citizens of the United States, basically reminding the Supreme Court that what's at stake today is very serious.

One of the most anti-abortion laws from the state of Mississippi is being considered today through oral arguments.

What is so significant is that this could undermine the law of the land, which is Roe v. Wade.

So, it is important that the Supreme Court hear us loud and clear, to not take us back but rather take us forward, and to remind everybody that House Democrats have passed Women's Health Protection Act and the Senate need to do their part now.

Protect women's rights and women's reproductive healthcare!"
